Get ready for something completely new at the 80th Annual Pasco County Fair! For the very first time, capybaras will be making their way to the Pasco County Fairgrounds, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome them!
Thanks to Camp Capybara, fairgoers can see these fascinating, incredibly social animals up close. Capybaras have become an internet sensation in recent years, capturing the hearts of millions of people through social media with their calm personalities, adorable faces, and laid-back nature.
Camp Capybara owner Hans Klose says their incredible social media popularity is one reason he decided to bring these amazing animals to fairs and events. Now, fairgoers in Pasco County can experience the capybara craze in person!
And these aren't just any capybaras. Meet Candy, Cake, Cookie, and Cream—four special members of the Camp Capybara family making their Pasco County Fair debut!
Klose says there is a simple secret to having a great interaction with a capybara:
“I will tell you a secret about capybaras: the calmer you are, the calmer they are.”
Capybaras don't like sudden movements, so visitors are encouraged to take their time, relax, and let these gentle animals approach them on their own. According to Klose, capybaras are extremely social animals and can be very curious about the people around them.
This brand-new attraction is sure to be a favorite for children, families, animal lovers, and anyone who has ever wondered what it's like to meet a capybara in person!
