Southern Star Blue Grass Band

Southern Star Bluegrass was formed in 1977 by Dan Smith and rich Hinson who still manage and operate the band. Since its formation, Southern Star has performed at bluegrass festival and show throughout the southeast and has been privileged to perform with many country and bluegrass stars, including Jim Stafford, Birdie Higgins, Bill Monroe, Jim and Jessie McReynolds, The Whites, Wilma Lee Cooper, Connie Smith, Jeannie Pruitt, Jimmy C. Newman, and Little Jimmy Dickens. In 1995 Southern Star was honored to participate in the 70th anniversary Bluegrass Spectacular at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. They will be making their debut at the Pasco County Fair, joining The Lewis Family with shows at 5 and 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20.
